Nymly Is Now a Chat: What Changed and What Stayed the Same

··5 min read

Nymly is now a chat. You describe your business, Nymly replies with names and checks the .com for every one, and you tell it what to change until a name clicks. Your account, your sign-in and your history came with you, and credit packs are gone. You start with $0.25 free, top up from $5 when you want more, and your balance is shown in dollars, so you pay for what you use.

This is the biggest change we have made since launch. Here is what is different, what it costs, what happened to existing accounts, and what did not change at all.

Why we turned Nymly into a chat

The first version of Nymly worked like a form. You filled in a brief, pressed a button and got ten names back. That is fine when the first batch is right, and it rarely is. Naming is a loop. You see a batch, react to it, say what you liked and what felt off, and go again. A form makes you start over every time. A chat keeps the thread, so "shorter" or "less techy" or "more like the third one" just works.

If you want the longer story of why Nymly exists, read The Story Behind Nymly. Nothing about the goal changed. We still want you to leave with a name you can actually use, not just a name you like.

What you can do now

  • Describe it, then steer it. Start with a sentence about the business. Every reply comes with a batch of names, and you refine them by talking back.
  • See the .com next to every name. Each name in a reply shows whether its .com is available before you fall in love with it. The default extensions are .com, .io and .ai, and in Settings, then Checks, you can choose from .co, .net, .org, .app, .dev, .tech and .online as well.
  • Shortlist what you like. Keep the names that survive in a shortlist. When one is worth a closer look, press Check socials to see whether the handle is free on TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, GitHub and Patreon. Instagram is shown as a link to open yourself, because Instagram cannot be checked without logging in. If you want to check handles by hand too, our guide to checking usernames on every platform walks through it.
  • Pick the model. Claude Haiku 4.5 is the default and the one we rate best for naming quality at its price. GPT 6 Luna is a quick, tidy alternative. For trickier briefs there are five more to try, Claude Sonnet 5.5, GPT 6 Sol, Gemini 3.8 Flash, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash. We explained how we choose engines in the last engine upgrade.
  • Come back to your work. Every chat is saved. Search them, pin the ones you care about and rename them from the menu next to each chat.

How the balance works

Your balance is shown in dollars, and a small ring in the corner shows how much is left. Everyone starts with $0.25 free. On the default model that is about 11 messages with their domain checks, or about 120 social checks. Those are the same estimates the app shows next to your balance, based on a typical message. After that you top up when you want to.

WhatWhat it costs
Free balance to start$0.25
Starter top up$5, adds $5 of balance, about 230 messages with their domain checks
Plus top up$20, adds $25 of balance, about 1,100 messages with their domain checks
Checking a name on one extension$0.0005
Checking a name on one social platform$0.002
A chat messageA small amount that depends on the model you pick

The message counts are estimates for a typical message on the default model, the same ones the app shows next to your balance, and a longer chat or a pricier model uses more. Two things worth knowing. The five premium models run on money you have topped up, not on the free $0.25. And your balance does not expire, so a top up sits there until you use it.

What happened to existing accounts

If you had a Nymly account, it is still yours. Your email, your password and Google sign-in all work as before. You might be asked to sign in once more the first time you visit, and if you are, the page tells you why. Your earlier name searches are still on your account. Credits you bought before the change carried over as balance, and everyone, new or old, starts with the $0.25.

What did not change

It is the same address and the same focus. Nymly is still about naming a business and knowing whether the domain and the handles are there before you commit. The chat is a better way to get to a name, not a different product. If you are weighing Nymly against other tools, our roundup of the best AI business name generators compares them side by side.

Questions people ask about the new Nymly

How much does Nymly cost now?

You start with $0.25 free, which is about 11 messages with their domain checks on the default model. After that you top up when you want to, $5 for Starter or $20 for Plus, which adds $25 of balance. A domain check costs $0.0005 per extension and a social check costs $0.002 per platform. A message costs a small amount that depends on the model you pick.

Did my account carry over?

Yes. Your email, your password, Google sign in and your earlier name searches all came with you. You might be asked to sign in once the first time you visit, and the page tells you why. Credits you bought before the change became balance in dollars.

What happened to credit packs?

They are gone. There is one balance in dollars. A top up adds money to it, and every message and every check takes a small amount from it, so you pay for what you use and nothing else.

Does my balance expire?

No. A top up sits in your balance until you use it.

Which model should I use?

Start with Claude Haiku 4.5, the default and the one we rate best for naming quality at its price. GPT 6 Luna is a quick, tidy alternative. The five premium models, Claude Sonnet 5.5, GPT 6 Sol, Gemini 3.8 Flash, DeepSeek V4.1 Flash and GLM 5.3 Flash, are for trickier briefs and run on money you have topped up, not on the free $0.25.
